Learning about joint-specific stretching and strengthening has empowered me to have a healthier relationship with my body in more ways than one. Through increasing my proprioception (awareness) of my body, I have come to appreciate what my body can and can’t do more. I have also learned and re-learned the importance of starting from the basics and breaking down a movement is helpful. And lastly, I teach from a standpoint of curiosity and from a standpoint that you are the best boss of your mind and body. My classes encourage students to ask questions (especially, “why are we doing this?”) They help you explore your own body and increase your own proprioception in a safe, open, and curious environment.
